This morning when I woke up, I thought to myself, today is going to be a good day. That is what I get for thinking! I got
Tylie out of bed and she was just playing in her room and watching her new Barbie movie... or so I THOUGHT! She was very quiet about what she was doing, so I had no clue. And of course she is very fast when she is doing something she knows she shouldn't be doing. So when she came into my bedroom and I saw a little bit of BLACK
PERMANENT MARKER on her arms I instantly head to the kitchen to where she had a chair pushed up to the counters, and had climbed up on the counter and found a black sharpie off of the top of the fridge. So this is what I came upon...
Yes, these are my kitchen cabinets!!! And the last picture is my wood floor!!!

So you can guess what I was doing ALL morning long, trying to figure which kind of cleaner takes permanent marker off wood. I scrubbed, and scrubbed, and scrubbed. Much to my surprise, if you scrub hard enough and use enough different cleaners, it does lighten considerably. It still isn't all the way off, but I think the rest may just have to stay because it doesn't want to seem to come any cleaner. So, pray for Tylie that she doesn't do anything else today that she isn't supposed to because I don't know if I could handle anymore today!!!

Oh Lisa... You poor thing.
What is next with her? Christian did something REALLY naughty every day last week. I often wonder how much more I can handle. My kids sure do make me learn patience!
I hope the rest of your day is good, and there is NO more big traumas the rest of the week!
If you find out a cleaner from someone, please share just in case...
Try Goo Gone. My counter tops were COVERED in black magic marker and my wood kitchen table too!~ It worked to get it off.
Oh my gosh....that is too funny, but you know if it happened at my house I would NOT be laughing. I am glad you got it to lighten up, the things kids do.... or at least your daughter!!
Oh my gosh Lisa! I bet you were horrified. I would have died, after I completely lost all patience. She sure has you one your toes. Watch out!!! Have you tried the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I know it has worked really well for me on other surfaces, but I don't know on wood. It would be worth a try.
I feel your pain little sis! How on earth did our little darlings turn out to be little terrors? Thanks for your help with Carlie today, I owe ya :)
Oh, Lisa...I'm so sorry and I feel your pain!! My little Emilee and your little Taylie seriously must've been buds up in heaven :) Wow, we have had the permanent marker art...not on my cabinets, but on MANY MANY other non-appropriate things. Now, I don't think we own a permanent marker anymore :) Good luck and keep posting these 'fun' naughty times, ha ha!
Holy Moly! Stuff like that is so draining. Good luck. You'll have to show a follow up picture so we can see how they turn out.
Oh Lisa, Oh Lisa, Oh Lisa....you poor thing. I hope you have a better day. Abby did that once with a big huge red marker, on the cabinets too. It never totally came off either :( -- I am so sorry! Just think how patient you will be, once you get your kids raised!!
It seems like the worst always happens when they are being quiet. I think I would totally lose it if my kids did that, although then maybe I could get some new cabinets! Maybe you should send her my way, I could use some new carpet too! Did you pray for patience? Good luck!
She is so funny. Destructive and cute...that's a dangerous combination!
Michael and I just look at your blog and laugh and fear when Lily discovers all these fun things, by then you will probably be done and you can laugh at what she is doing.
Well, black matches everything right? :) At least it isnt a clashing color. ~Just Kidding.~ ;) I know rubbing alcohol gets magic marker off skin. Who knows with wood though. I'm gad you post these mis-haps, it lets me know mine aren't the only little stinkers. It's probably good therapy for you too! ;)
Oh...you are not alone sista!!! Allie is still doing those little numbers on my house...flushing, flooding, painting, colroing...got to love the "help" they give you! Mr Clean and I are trying to work out a deal on a discount for my stock in his magic erasers! I couldn't, actually, Allie couldn't live without them! Good luck!!!!!!
I agree with Michelle...lets all have a GOOD laugh when Lily gets to that stage!!!
Oh my gosh is all I can say 100 times. I can't even beleive you calmed enough to take the pics. I am totally laughin and then not laughin for you. You have got two plus alot more hands full with that little girl. Many prayers are sent your way!
p.s. I cannot even believe how much Carson looks like Shad. Isn't that crazy?
Lisa sorry so late at commenting but iv'e been busy. Looks like you have your hands full I know the feeling. did you ever get the ink out? Landon has done that same thing on my kitchen table which is solid oak and I had to scrub like crazy with the majic eraser. it finally came out. My walls have become an art masterpiece from Landon and i get a new painting every day.
OH my gosh! I would just about die! And i thought that pen on our couches was bad! Hopefully you can get the rest off!
Hi! I'm a cousin of the Rosenvalls and saw your pictures of the permanant marker on the wood. Our son wrote all over our walls, pictures and china cabinet several years ago. A friend of mine with 8 children suggested a melalucca(sp?)product. I can't remember the name of it, but I've used is several times and it works unbelievably well! I tiny drop wipes magic marker away like it's watercolor! Seriously, this stuff will wipe it all off! Celeste from Oregon
